Roald Amundsen was a Norwegian polar explorer and researcher. The first man reached the South Pole and four weeks before the British Robert Scott. He became a great pioneer of polar research "on air". On the airship Norge flew along with Umberto Nobile North Pole. He died during a rescue mission searching for the airship Italia.
