Description: The Geometry of Grace reveals a captivating exploration of form and color through the profile of a woman rendered with striking clarity. The composition unfolds like a luminous mosaic, where each geometric segment contributes to a complex visual rhythm defined by bold outlines reminiscent of stained glass. Vibrant hues of red, blue, yellow, green, and beige intersect within these shapes, creating a dynamic interplay that balances vivid energy with serene elegance. The hair flows backward in a series of deliberate, swirling contours, instilling a sense of movement that contrasts with the composed stillness of the profile. Textural patterns within the segmented areas deepen the dimensionality.
Description: The Radiant Voice captures the enduring spirit of a legendary jazz icon through a vivid fusion of color and form. The centerpiece is a luminous portrait marked by a warm, inviting smile, complemented by elegant details such as a shimmering necklace, delicate earrings, and a white flower nestled in the hair. A vintage microphone stands closely by, anchoring the scene in a moment of intimate performance. Surrounding the figure, layers of swirling patterns in deep purples, pinks, blues, and yellows evoke the fluidity and passion of musical expression. Behind this, a golden record gleams softly, while scattered musical notes and the silhouettes of a city skyline at sunset bring a sense of place and narrative depth.
Description: The Courageous Seat emerged from a quiet place where memory and spirit intertwine. In this portrait of Rosa Parks, the green jacket she wears becomes a symbol—not just of a moment, but of a steadfast intention rooted deep in the earth’s own resolve. Her gaze meets you directly, calm but unshakable, as the textured background pulses with color and movement, a subtle echo of the bus she once defied and the collective force that followed. Words hover near her—her name, her conviction, the lifetime commitment to freedom framing the scene—each element a tether between past and present, visible and hidden truths. This piece is a quiet invocation of courage that unfolds in layers, inviting you into the stillness and the storm at once.
Description: Soul fire Legacy The Courageous Gaze emerged from the space where history breathes and memory pulses like a hidden flame. John Lewis’s face rises in warm, golden light—each line and shadow a testament to resolve and quiet power. Around him, echoes of struggle take shape in weathered text and fragments of a turbulent past—a bridge, voices raised, the restless beat of “good trouble.” This is more than a portrait; it’s an invocation. The layers of collage trace the unyielding spirit of a movement, and his gaze holds the weight of both the journey and the promise ahead. In this work, I sought to conjure the living legacy of courage that carries us through shadows, illuminating the path with steadfast hope.
Description: The Poetic Flame is a portrait that moves like a quiet incantation. In her steady gaze and the woven textures of her headwrap, I sought to capture the currents of a spirit both luminous and enigmatic. The colors shift between shadows and light—deep purples and flickers of gold—carrying the weight of history and the resilience that pulses beneath the surface. Text and imagery float like whispered echoes: a name, a phrase, a glimpse of legacy that refuses to fade. This work is less a likeness than a living presence, an unfolding mystery that invites you to listen closely to the fire that Maya Angelou carried and passed on.
