Walk the cross labyrinth to be immersed into the story of the Wise Men visiting baby Jesus. Imagine being there. Wise men travelling from afar arrive. Overwhelmed with joy they take their turns… “they knelt down and paid him homage” (Matthew 2:11). They offered their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Imagine witnessing the Wise Men visiting baby Jesus. After traveling for significant distances, following a star, they arrived. Overwhelmed with joy, “they knelt down and paid him homage” (Matthew 2:11). Then they opened their treasure chests offering gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. What does it mean to be part of the human family in all its diversity? What does that look like? How can it work? Mary, Joseph, and Jesus, also know as the Holy Family, offer an example. Mary had been bethroded to be married and with child. Joseph concerned and uncertain. Jesus encourages us to love… “you shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). Enjoy Lectio Divina, contemplate scripture - what does it mean to love your neighbor as yourself? Is neighbor family? Use the words of scripture or “We are family” as a prayer or a positive mantra. Welcome to the path! In each of us is the light of Christ. It is a light of hope, kindness, peace, joy, and love. Take a little time to see the sacramental reality of the world all around us – and soon the light that shines all around as well as from deep within becomes visible. Walk the path into the center and back out.
