The Congregation for Humanistic Judaism of Metro Detroit was founded as The Birmingham Temple in 1963 by Rabbi Sherwin T. Wine (1928-2007) and eight families seeking to establish a new temple in suburban Detroit. Humanistic Judaism features a unique combination of adherence to universal Humanistic values coupled with an appreciation that Jewish culture adds value to our lives.
