This local verse from Suffolk, England commemorates the Black Shuck that terrorized the people there in 1577.
4 August 1577, during a raging thunderstorm a massive black dog bursts into St. Mary's church in Bungay, Suffolk, England and kills 2 church members during Sunday service and mauls a third. Then the church's steeple is struck by lightning and collapses. The beast continues to the Holy Trinity Church in Blythburough and kills 3 church members there. As it exits it leaves claw marks scorched into the wooden door. Dubbed the Black Shuck the hellish hound is said to haunt East Anglia England.
