Description: Reproduction graphics insignia for the Office of Civilian Defense (aka civil defense), as created in 1941 to co-ordinate state and federal measures for the protection of civilians in case of war emergency. Civilan Defense was responsible for supervising protective functions such as blackouts and fire protection, as well as war service functions such as child care, health, housing and transportation. The Office of Civilian Defense would become the Office of Civil Defense at the end of the war and would retain the iconic CD insignia.

In Soviet Air Force use, the P-39 had the highest number of kills attributed to it than any other US fighter type flown by any air force in the conflict.
