In this enlarged view of the barrel cactus in my garden I hope to show the intricate way in which the spikes of the cactus criss-cross each other, providing a perfect defense of the cactus stem. Description: During a very dry and hot summer, various plants started growing on my lawn. I always enjoy waiting and watching to see which insects or other creatures will come to eat the leaves or the flowers. One day I was looking to see if any insects were on the leaves and I noticed the striking beauty of the leaves, their veins, the serrated leaf edges and I took a photograph. Of course, being me, I had to play with the colours, so what is actually a photograph of a green plant, taken on a hot summers day, has now become a fiery, autumn-like leaf image!
