Description: Gauzy, dreamy texture infuses this photo of the top of the Astoria Column with a nostalgic, soft, glowing light. The text "John Jacob" inscribed under the eaves of this landmark may inspire you to feel like breaking forth into a l little song: "John Jacob Jingleheimer Smidt," but it actually refers to John Jacob Astor, for whom the Oregon coastal town of Astoria was named. Description: A great blue heron spreads its wings in majestic flight over the pond at the now defunct Trojan Nuclear plant. Searching for its next meal of fish, is glides gracefully across a scene of grandiose pacific northwest trees sparkling in the high contrast morning light and shadows.
Description: A large snowflake with transparent icy edges glows a translucent white in front of a tree with red tinged leaves, one shaped like a bird perched on a branch, and surreal teal and magenta colors in the background--creating a scene reminiscent of one last snowfall before the full onset of spring.
Description: The sun shines radiantly golden as it begins to rise over the crest of the mountains beyond the banks of the Columbia River near Kelso and Longview, Washington. The Pacific Northwest clouds are dark and brooding in the amber sky while the river flows peacefully between the Washington and Oregon shores. Sunlight glows on a golden path across the river towards the steeple of the Methodist church in Rainier, Oregon.
Description: A girl with funky, twisted, hot pink, horn rimmed glasses reads an adventure novel, as the textured background creates the impression of a magical glowing light emanating from the book bringing it to life in vivid imagination. She bites her lip in suspense as the scenes play out in her mind while she reads.
Description: Beneath a cloudy pacific northwest sky, paintbrush wildflowers on Johnston's Ridge surround the stump of a tree that was shattered during Mount Saint Helens eruption. Off in the distance, several other mountains are still covered in fallen dead trees amongst the regrowth of the forest.

Description: In this work of digital art, a semitransparent dragon -like a fiery furnace of hot molten glass-curls around fiercely, menacing and breathing fire, and poised to strike the warrior Hercules who dares to approach Hesperia's garden in search of the precious apples there. Multiple layers of abstract semi-transparent, translucent shapes and textures overlaid on a floral photograph create an ethereal milky-way like scene in which a starlit night merges with a garden where a larger than life profile of Hesperia's face is overlaid on the apple tree in such a way that she appears to weep. Beyond her, one of her sisters gazes in wonder at a blue flower, nebula-like in the glorious process of creation. Although vastly different in scope and mean...
Description: This moody oval photo with ominous grey clouds, taken from Johnston's Ridge, shows the destructive force of Mount St Helens' 1980 eruption. Downed evergreen trunks litter the mountainsides where they were exposed to the brunt of the volcanic blast, while even in more sheltered areas dead gray trunks stand as reminders of the beautiful forest that once covered these cascade mountains. Throughout the scene nature recovers in vigorous shades of green with a new generation of young trees scattered sparsely on the slopes.

Description: A country girl in a white dress and cowboy hat pauses to listen to the sound of the wind before continuing to fiddle a serenade.autumn leaves fall peacefully downward through the dark, but tranquil forest in the background, as their silently drifting shapes create an air of magical wonder --glowing in the light in their downwards spiral towards the forest floor. As the wind flutters her dress and her hair, it also picks up the notes of her music from her inward ear, and carries them afar to the world.
Description: This focal black and white photo, bright paintbrush wildflowers on Johnston's Ridge bloom surrounded by death and destruction. A clear blue summer sky with one fluffy white cloud in the background seems to represent renewal and hope for the future despite the site's sad history.
Description: This somber black and white oval photo, taken on Johnston's Ridge looking away from Mount St Helens, shows mountains covered in the remnants of dead forest, ash and other detritus left behind by the volcano's 1980 blast. young trees and other new growth are interspersed sparingly between between these reminders of the mountain's destructive power as nature continues to heal the area.
Description: At first glance, this is just a nice picture of some flowers with an interesting textured background, framed with a bit of modern art flair; however, there is more to it than meets the eye when examined in more depth... Half hidden behind the five petaled purple Pacific Northwest salmon berry blossom, the face of Titania as a bride glows with love as she gazes adoringly up at the visage of Oberon. The overlapping purple, green, and golden toned rectangles symbolize both unity and discord in the couple's future as they begin with varying success to mesh and meld their lives and hearts together from separate planes of existence, as well as symbolizing the various interlinked plots within Shakespeare's play, "Midsummer Night's Dream." abs...
