Description: Artist's Description Started this chalkboard app drawing on my phone while I was sitting with mom at the hospital and she was sleeping. Added in the boat, birds and starfish to finish it up after she recently passed away. The starfish is a nod to my starfish lady, Susie Davis. When I was 4 our ward (ie. congregation) went on a trip to the beach. She found me in tears at the edge of the water over a starfish in the sand. When she asked me what was wrong, I replied, “it’s dying!” So she picked it up for me and threw it as far and as hard as she could back into the water. At a scenic campsite in the forested hills surrounding Oakridge, Oregon, a child and his mother discover the joy of an old fashioned red water pump after feasting on huckleberries. Poised in mid-stroke of the pump the mother's figure is bathed half in sunlight and half in dappled shadow with a sense of continuing motion. As the crystal clear mountain water cascades from the spout Michael washed the huckleberry stains from his tiny fingers in joy and wonderment. Surrounding this nostalgic scene is a array of pacific northwest foliage and trees rendered in impressionistic brush strokes.

As the sun glistens and sparkles in the reflections in the water moving over the golden bronze forest detritus, layers of interesting patterns and shapes appear.
