Description: Standing tall for over 32 years, Vortex took it's final rides in 2019 before being retired suddenly. Missed by many, Vortex left a gaping hole at Kings Island, both figuratively and literally. As we wait to see what the park replaces it with, we hold onto the fond memories we have of this beloved classic. Photo taken in 2019.

Description: Many know of Dale Earnhardt Sr's nickname as "The Intimidator," but did you know that Dale also carried with him a lesser known nickname? Indeed it's true! Ironhead was bestowed upon Dale by Bobby Allison, though it took on more meaning in the 70s when shrapnel became buried in the skin of Dale's temple. It wasn't removed for 25 years. This legendary dueling inverted coaster beckoned Champions from far and wide to Choose Thy Fate for over eighteen years.
