Description: A tribute to all who have come to New Zealand shores, this statue depicts Kupe Raiatea the explorer, his wife Hine Te Aparangi and Pekahourangi the Tohunga as they sight Aotearoa (New Zealand) from their Canoe Matahourua. This Mure Group statue was created in plaster of Paris by William Trethewey and featured at the 1940 NZ Centennial Exhibition at Rongotai. In 1999 the statue was cast in bronze as a Millenium Project and unveiled on 4 March 2000. Description: The Jack and Jill statue shot in 1980 from the Hotel Indonesia side - although this was a traffic round-a-bout, the police did not allow traffic to go all the way around at the time and there were massive traffic jams with cars having to drive up one of the arms of the round-a-bout just to be able to do a U-turn and return to tackle the round-a-bout from another side - now there is a lot more traffic and also a much changed skyline. Description: Gundagai, New South Wales, Australia This is part of the Gundagai Rail Viaduct across the Murrumbidgee floodplain - it is 819m long consisting of 72 timber trusses, the longest timber truss structure ever built in Australia, and a steel bridge over the main channel of the river. It was constructed in 1903 when the railway line from Cootamundra to Gundagai was extended to Tumut. The service was discontinued in 1984. Description: Kow Plains Homestead, Cowangie, Victoria, Australia The homestead, of drop log construction using mostly Callitris pine, is reputed to have been built in 1879, although the cookhouse, the building with the stone chimney seen at right was built in the 1860s and the Station itself of which these buildings were part dates back to 1859.
