Air New Orleans was an airline based in Birmingham, Alabama that was conceived as a commuter airline to provide service to cities throughout the Southeastern United States from Texas to Florida. The airline was founded in 1981 in Panama City, Florida and operated scheduled passenger service between 1981 and 1988. Despite its name, the airline's original headquarters was in Panama City, Florida with some executive offices being located in New Orleans.

The Sacramento Gold Miners were a Canadian football team based in Sacramento, California. The franchise was the first American team in the Canadian Football League. The Gold Miners inherited a home stadium, front office staff and much of the roster of the Sacramento Surge from the defunct World League of American Football. The team played its home games at Hornet Stadium. Because the stadium was inadequate and lacking any other nearby replacement, the owner moved the team to San Antonio as the Texans for the 1995 CFL season.

The Cape Codders were a Minor Professional hockey team based in South Yarmouth, MA playing in the North American Hockey League from 1974 to 1976. The team was formerly known as the Cape Code Cubs. The Cubs started play as an expansion franchise in the Eastern Hockey League in 1972. They were an affiliate of the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins.

The Washington Senators baseball team was one of the American League's eight charter franchises. The club was founded in Washington, D.C. in 1901 as the Washington Senators. In 1905, the team changed its official name to the Washington Nationals. The name "Nationals" appeared on the uniforms for only two seasons, and was then replaced with the "W" logo for the next 52 years. However, the names "Senators", "Nationals" and shorter "Nats" were used interchangeably by fans and media for the next 60 years.

The Rhode Island Indians were a professional American football team based in Providence, Rhode Island. The team was formed in 1965 as a charter member of the Continental Football League. The team (sometimes referred to as the Providence Indians) completed their lone COFL season with a 3-11 record. Prior to their final home game the Indians announced they were withdrawing from the league.

The Spokane Jets were a senior men's ice hockey team that played out of Spokane, Washington. They played in the Western International Hockey League (WIHL) from 1963-64 through 1973-74. Prior to 1963 the Spokane Flyers were the city's entry in the WIHL. The Spokane Jets were renamed the Flyers in 1974. In 1969–70, the Spokane Jets became the first United States-based team to win the Allan Cup.

The Iowa Cornets was a team that played for two seasons (1978-1979) in the Women's Professional Basketball League. The team made it to the league's championship series both seasons, falling to the Houston Angels in 1978-79 and to the New York Stars in 1979–80. The team played their games at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines, Iowa and at the Five Seasons Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The team was disbanded after the 1979–80 season.

The Charlotte Checkers were a minor league professional ice hockey team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team began as the Baltimore Clippers in 1954, playing in the Eastern Hockey League. When the arena in Baltimore burned down, the team briefly played as the Charlotte Rebels, before permanently relocating to the Charlotte Coliseum in 1956, becoming the Charlotte Clippers. The team was renamed the Checkers in 1960, and played its final four seasons in the Southern Hockey League, before folding in 1977.

Southern Airways (IATA: SO, ICAO: SOU, Call sign: Southern) was an airline from its founding by in 1949 until 1979, when it merged with North Central Airlines to become Republic Airlines. Southern's corporate headquarters were in Birmingham, with operations headquartered at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, near Atlanta. Southern's routes extended from Tri-Cities in Tennessee south to New Orleans and Jacksonville, and east from Baton Rouge and Monroe, Louisiana, to the coast at Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Later in 1968, a route sprouted northward: three weekday Douglas DC-9-10s from Columbus, Georgia (CSG) nonstop to Washington Dulles and on to New York LaGuardia.

The St. Petersburg Pelicans were one of the eight original franchises that began playing in the Senior Professional Baseball Association in 1989. They played their home games at Al Lang Stadium in Downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. The Pelicans went 42-30 in the regular season and won the Northern Division title. Led by Lamar Johnson's home run and three RBI, the Pelicans went on to beat the West Palm Beach Tropics 12-4 to win the league's championship game. The team returned for a second season but ceased operation when the league folded in December 1990.

The Chicago Hustle was a team in the Women's Professional Basketball League (WBL) from 1978 to 1981. The Hustle played in all three WBL seasons and led the league in attendance each year. The WBL disbanded in 1981 because of financial problems throughout the league.

Air LA was a regional commuter airline headquartered in the Westchester area of Los Angeles, California. The company was founded in 1982 and expanded to serve Los Angeles, San Diego, Ontario, Bakersfield, Fresno, Stockton, Monterey, Phoenix, Las Vegas. Baja California, it served Tijuana, Ensenada, Mexicali, San Felipe, and Hermosillo. Air LA ceased operations in 1995.

The Washington Darts were an American soccer club based in Washington, D.C. that played in the American Soccer League from 1967 to 1969 and the North American Soccer League in the 1970 and 1971 seasons, though in 1967 they were known as Washington Britannica. They won two ASL championships and played for the NASL championship once. They also won the 1970 NASL International Cup. The club left Washington after 1971 and became the Miami Gatos (1972), Miami Toros (1973–76), Ft. Lauderdale Strikers (1977–83), and Minnesota Strikers (1984) in the NASL's final season.

Air Kentucky was a commuter airline based in Owensboro, Kentucky. It was also known for a time as Owensboro Aviation. It began operations in 1974, and joined the Allegheny Commuter system for Allegheny Airlines, and later USAir Express. The airline ended its operations in 1989. The airline was mentioned in the film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou; one of the main characters, Ned Plimpton, is a pilot for Air Kentucky, however, in the film Ned mentioned that the airline was based out of Louisville, Kentucky.

The Beauce Jaros were a minor professional ice hockey team from Saint-Georges, Quebec, located in the Beauce region of the province. The Jaros played one full season in the North American Hockey League during the 1975–76 season, and were the NAHL's regular season champions, but lost to the Philadelphia Firebirds in the Lockhart Cup finals. The Jaros played another 30 games into the 1976–77 season before ceasing operations.

This 1964-65 New York Rangers farm club in the Eastern Hockey League was the last of several versions of the New York Rovers ice hockey team. The original Rovers started out back in 1935 as a senior amateur club in the Eastern Amateur Hockey League and played until 1952. This final incarnation of the Rovers was born in May 1964, and folded after only one season and the Rovers name has not been revived since.

The New York Rovers were a senior ice hockey team that was established in 1935. They played in the Eastern Hockey League as a farm team of the New York Rangers. The Rovers played alongside the Rangers in Madison Square Garden. They played in the Eastern League through 1947–48. When the EHL took a break for the 1948–49 season, the Rovers played in the Quebec Senior Hockey League until the EHL resumed for the 1949–50 season. The Rovers folded in 1952 because of a dispute over television rights.

Vero Beach Dodgers, were a minor league baseball team based in Vero Beach, Florida. They played in the Class A-Advanced Florida State League from 1980–2006. The changed affiliation and played as the Vero Beach Devil Rays from 2006-2008 when they relocated to Port Charlotte, Florida as the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

The San Bernardino Spirit were a Class A minor league team in the California League. The team arrived in San Bernardino in 1987 after relocating from Ventura County, California. The team played as an independent club in 1987 with no Major League affiliation but became associated with the the Seattle Mariners for the 1988 season. The team moved to Rancho Cucamonga in 1993, where they original Spirit franchise would be known as the Quakes. A second Spirit team started that same year in San Bernardino but lacked major league affiliation until 1995 when an agreement was made with the Dodgers and soon thereafter became the Stampede.
