Description: The box series began with a question: Why and how do we hide? I wanted to deal with isolation, and compartmentalizing. Veiling and perspective became significant while questioning what feels safe and comfortable. The box began to represent the unknown, a void for the viewer to fill with their own projections. I believe we were created with the need for community, and communication beyond ourselves. See more at craighawkinsart.com

Description: The way bread is referenced through Christ in the gospels is fascinating. The victory over a temptation to turn stones to bread illustrates the potential violation that comes with the power of provision: materialism. Such triumph points to the fact that we are more than what we eat. The feeding of the 5000 speaks to the power of provision through compassion. The Last supper speaks to Christ himself being the sacrifice for our sins that gives us all eternal significance and a reunited relationship with our creator now and beyond death.
Description: The generic compositional armature applicable to any rectangle/square configuration/proportion. This armature was discovered by the Greek mathematician Pythagoras (ca 570–ca 490 BC). Many artists use this armature because the major intersections correlate to the musical harmonic scale (one third, one quarter, one half, two thirds and three quarters).
