Description: Time for some holiday spirit. I had the idea for this piece late at night and decided to paint it the next day. I wanted to show a dreamy snowy scene for the holidays but not use any black or white. The lamp post was part of the original design but since it reminded me of Narnia so much, I decided to make it my own by adding stained-glass. The reflections from the panes tie in nicely with the colored lights and the overall I ended up using white gel pen and some white watercolor for the shine in the lamp post but overall it was mostly prussian blue, purple, and magenta. I used gouache and watercolors.
Description: For this piece I wanted to emulate a deep dark forest in the early morning or midday. It was a challenge to get the rays of light painted (or rather, not painted) in a way that made them believable in shining through the canopy. I'm pleased with how it came out, especially how the shadows came out. I used gouache paints, masking fluid, white crayon and the original painting took around 8 to 10 hours to finish.
