Making collages is a craft I first found my creative flare in. I created this one by hand – as I do most. I wanted to give the image depth, I tried to create this by using different landscapes for the background, I also like that the central focus is facing “outwards”. One of the creative passions I have had since education, and one I see myself doing as a hobby forever, is collages! I have been doing quite a bit of hand drawings recently. From the first one I drew I found a style I was comfortable with and each one I draw is better and slightly different from the last. In this one, I focused on the background and had to take great care in adding the colour when everything is drawn so it appears to be overlapped. I created this piece because I wanted to captivate my friends beauty, whilst also making something I could colour in! In my own style I created this piece specifically for the tribal paint look – which is coloured red, gold and green. I used a picture of myself for a guide and did this piece with braided extension (each piece of artwork I create in my style I do with a different Afro-hair style for each). The original – which is all done by hand, lines and all – has gold paint for the necklace and hair beads. This is another one of my drawings with my own style I created. It’s the first man I’ve drawn in this style and it was inspired from the main character in Franco Rosso’s film ‘Babylon’. I love the detail in the hair, and the little colour I added.
