Lynden Transfer Alcan Highway Express 1906 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: In 1906, 23-year-old Ed Austin started a business hauling goods from the railroad station to local businesses with a horse-drawn wagon in Lynden, Washington. Calling his new business Lynden Transfer, Austin hauled everything from furniture to animal feed. By 1947, Lynden was running four trucks, but Austin was looking to retire and sold Lynden Transfer. The new owners wanted to expand north... to Alaska. Despite being told that trucks navigating the rugged Alaska-Canada (Alcan) Highway was impossible, Lynden proved them wrong by delivering a load of meat in 1953. Being faster than ocean and cheaper than air made Lynden a household name, and in 1954 the company began running regular routes between Seattle and multiple cities in Alaska.

McLean Trucking Company 1934 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: McLean Trucking Company was founded in 1934 by Malcom McLean in Raleigh, North Carolina, but would soon relocate to Winston-Salem. McLean's first decade saw rapid growth through acquisitions, building a network that let them pioneer what would become the less-than-truckload (LTL) industry. Always looking forward, Malcom dreamed of creating an intermodal network where trailers could be moved by container up and down the coast. To pull this off, he had to sell his trucking company, as US law at the time didn't allow for the ownership of both truck and ship lines, but his gamble paid off. Malcom founded what would become Sea-Land in 1957, and he became known as the father of standardized ocean freight containers.

Trikes By Stires 1971 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: In the early '70s DIY trike kits had their moment in the sun. Advertised in the back of magazines, these kits ran the gamut from a set of basic plans to far out fiberglass bodies and prefabricated frames where all buyers needed was a Type I engine, transaxle, and suspension, and then a chopper style front fork setup. Clyde Stires was a purveyor of the latter, designing and manufacturing an assortment of futuristic trike bodies, frames, and custom accessories in his Garden Grove studio to help people assemble the 3-wheeler of their dreams. Folks liked building something fun that they could use to get the open air feeling of a motorcycle with the stability of a car and could be built from mild to wild.

Juno First 1983 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: Developed and released in 1983, Juno First is a fixed shooter arcade game with a slightly tilted perspective, similar to 1980's Radar Scope. The game presents a set number of enemies per level, but they do not make a gallery formation like similar space themed fixed shooters. Instead, the player's ship can move forward and backward (in addition to left and right) to hunt enemies in an orientation that is vertical, but has some horizon-oriented tilt. This style of gameplay would be re-used in a later shooter, called Axelay. The player destroys waves of enemies to finish levels. Starting formations vary from stage to stage. In addition, the player can pick up a humanoid, upon which the screen will have a red tint.
