Il Mondo di Yor 1983 T-Shirt

Description: Il mondo di Yor is a 1983 Italian science fiction fantasy film that follows a prehistoric warrior named Yor who comes to question his origins, particularly with regard to a mysterious medallion he wears. When he learns of a desert goddess who supposedly wears the same medallion, Yor decides that he must find her and learn his true identity. Along the way, he encounters ape-men, dinosaurs, and a strange futuristic society. The film was originally made as a four-part miniseries for Italian TV, but was given a worldwide theatrical release, where, despite less than stellar reviews, did very well in box office sales.

Flannery’s Restaurant & Constellation Lounge 1967 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: Having opened in 1928, Flannery’s Restaurant was already a fixture on Route 1 in Penndel, Pennsylvania when the area really started to get built up following World War II. With more restaurants in town, owner Jim Flannery began looking for a way to get more attention from highway traffic passing through town. It took him a while to come up with an idea, but in 1967, Jim had a plan and put it in motion. He purchased a 1954 L-1049 Super Constellation, aka the Super Connie, and had it trucked to Penndel. It was mounted on pylons over the restaurant with its 72-seat interior now serving as the Constellation Lounge. The restaurant's new airborne cocktail lounge was a hit, and quickly became one of the region’s most recognized highway landmarks.

Reagan Country 1980 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: Ronald Reagan was elected President of the United States on November 4, 1980. His triumph capped the rise of the new right/conservative wing of the Republican Party and ushered in a new era of governing. Reagan served as arguably the first true conservative U.S. president in over 50 years. Reagan advanced domestic policies that featured a lessening of federal government responsibility in solving social problems, reducing restrictions on business, and implementing tax cuts. Internationally, Reagan demonstrated a fierce opposition to the spread of communism throughout the world and a strong distrust of the Soviet Union, which in 1983 he labeled an "evil empire."

Spencer Gifts 1981 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: Spencer Gifts was founded in 1947 in Easton, Pennsylvania by Max Spencer Adler as a mail-order catalog selling an assortment of novelty merchandise. The company would later move to Atlantic City, and in 1963, opened their first retail store in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. By the late '60s, Spencer Gifts had over 450 stores across America, and the gag gifts and oddities had been joined by rock tees, black light posters, and adult novelties. As a result, kids wanted to check out the cool stuff inside, but parents routinely steered them away while passing by in the mall. This design is representative of the '80s rebrand that most teens from the '80s and '90s probably remember.

Chicken Delight 1952 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: Founded in Illinois in 1952, Chicken Delight grew during the 1960s into a massive chain with over 1,000 locations. The advertising jingle "don't cook tonight, call Chicken Delight" emphasized their free delivery services and convenient take-out dinners and was widely used in radio and TV ads. By the late '60s, emerging chains were taking market share from Chicken Delight at an accelerated pace. This is largely attributed to the fact that while competing chains ensured that all franchise locations met their standards for a uniform experience, Chicken Delight outlets lacked this oversight, and customers were quick to notice. By the late '70s, Chicken Delight ceased to exist in America, but continued to thrive under new ownership in Canada.

Charlie's on Broadway 1976 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: While it may be hard to believe now, back in the '70s, Seattle's Capitol Hill only had a smattering of places to eat, and the quality of these establishments is up to conjecture. Charlie Quinn decided to change this by opening Charlie's on Broadway in 1976. This was an era when state liquor laws required bar areas to be separate, which is the reason behind Charlie's odd dual-entrance setup. While laws changed, Charlie’s welcoming vibe and famous Pepper Pot Soup stayed the same for nearly 40 years.

Bacon's Boots & Saddles 1953 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: Ed Bacon opened his western store, Bacon's Boots & Saddles, in Globe, Arizona back in the early '50s, and while they sold all the typical western apparel and related goods, it was Ed's traditional hand crafted saddles that he was probably best known for. With unparalleled attention to detail, Ed hand-tooled every saddle, hand-stitched every seat and hand-shaped every cantle, all to customer specifications. Ed Bacon was a true artisan, creating a dozen or so custom saddles a year with his son Earl well into the 2010s despite swindling cowboys and working ranches in the area. Handmade saddles like those procured at Bacon's typically outlast the cowboys who own them, and most are handed down through generations like a classic car.

Belyea Truck Company 1921 T-Shirt

Description: B.W. Belyea founded Belyea Truck Company on December 8, 1921 in Los Angeles, California with his brothers. While Belyea started out as a general cartage carrier working with the railroad to move rail freight to offline destinations, he soon found that he had a knack for handling cargo that other carriers turned down. By the late '30s, Belyea had a reputation for moving things that others say can't be moved. From 148-foot girders and a steam locomotive to a 115-ton kiln and the mirror for what was the world’s largest telescope, when customers inquired about moving something, Belyea's reply was always just “where you want it?”

Village Inn Pizza Parlor 1963 T-Shirt
Main Tag:

Description: Village Inn Pizza Parlor was a chain of pizza restaurants that is believed to have been founded in 1963, however there are a few competing origin stories out there. Some say that the chain was first established in North Carolina in 1967, while another account suggests that the chain's origins began in Arizona in 1966. What we do know is that by 1969, the chain had over 70 locations across America, all with an iconic steeper-roofed architectural design. The restaurants appear to have been inspired by the design of Foxy's Restaurants, as both featured an A-frame style with a mix of rock and siding materials. While the chain is now long gone, several Village Inn Pizza Parlor locations are still in business today.
