If you've read "The Art of Gathering," you've read about "The bob"... some one who is not a threat to the gathering, nor do they fulfill the purpose. You'd be just as okay is they didn't show up. We've all been bobs, the awkward invitee to a party in which we weren't the one personally invited... the awkward boyfriend/girlfriend, the aunt, the sister of a friend... we've all been there. Approach the party just claiming your bob-ness and by default, you aren't the bob anymore!

After cleaning up a project with tons of glitter, I put it in the toilet and left it for my husband to find. A little later upon discovering the glitter-filled toilet, he asked, "what'd you do, poop magic!?" And then I made this. Inspiration can strike at any time! Nothing like a little glitter litter! (Also, I have since learned you shouldn't put glitter in the toilet... my bad! Poop magic somewhere else!)

Rainbows are a result of sun and rain... a good reminder that life is made of both light and dark. May we all have rainbow tears in this life; tears of sorrow when necessary and tears of joy on a regular basis!

Be yourself, AND, be kind. the world needs kindness just as much as authenticity. Facing ourselves looks like acknowledging where we've also fallen short and failed to love the other because we've failed to love ourselves. People need to know they matter, first about themselves, so they will genuinely believe that about others. Do the work to be true to who you are, and do the work to address your own resentment and anger and feelings of inadequacy so you have nothing left but love and kindness to give... to yourself, and to others.

At 35, my sister called me up and abruptly asked, "JJ, did you know PA Ingalls was hot!?" Remembering our favorite childhood show, I quickly googled Pa Ingalls (Michael Landon), and sure enough, I realized not only was Laura Ingalls' dad a hottie, but it also meant we were officially aging. Comedian, artist and writer, JJ Barrows shares stories of people from all walks of life to educate, entertain and look for the gold in even the darkest of places. You don’t have to be a comedian to find the humor in life and realize no matter how pointless this life may seem sometimes, there is greatness to be found in the midst of it. I've always wanted to make my own hometown shirt. After painting a bunch of sea turtles this year and realizing my hometown is home to where to many hatch, BOOM! With a lot of color and love for my blessed isle, this design is now available in two options: front and back with small front logo, and front only with large logo! Based on my comedy bit about growing up in the south and being taught to be proud of southern heritage, only to find out my mother was born in New Jersey. When we told her we learned about "damn yankees" in school, she jumped up and said "I'ma damn Yankee!" The only time I ever heard my mother swear. Where ever you're from, be proud!

I love Carol Burnett, but I admit, I didn't grow up on the original show... I grew up on the reruns! It still counts! You can't get rid of a classic!

After being a barista for nearly 10 years and an artist even longer, I needed something that captured the world of coffee artists. After all, coffee is an art in and of itself. Whether your career is in coffee or it's just your side hustle, this is for the artist in all of us.

I grew up in Pawleys Island, South Carolina where sea turtles come and lay their eggs on the beaches. The babies have to learn to make their own way to the ocean. It's tempting to want to help them, but the journey from the sand to the ocean strengthens and prepares them for ocean wildlife. All the beach houses on the island know... lights out! Sea turtles dig the dark!

Lined with the stories and photos of people from the black community who were unjustly killed, signifying that their stories still remain, their memories cannot be erased. Dr. King's mug shot is representative of the fact that while it is easy for us white people today to credit our belief in equality to agreeing with Dr. King, the majority of white people during his time actually jailed him for the things we say we agree with. Just because we're living in a different time doesn't mean everything has been resolved. This is my attempt as an artist to keep the discussion going, the stories open and the attempt to face the uncomfortable reality of our terrible history. The colors serve to celebrate life and get you to look closer.

Let friends know if they can go in for the hug or not... Avoid the awkwardness by giving them a heads up without even having to ask! This is shirt is for my husband... he's a hugger. I, on the other hand, will be wearing the other shirt!

I love waves. I love color. This is that and that is this.

Inspired by Mister Rogers saying "some people are fancy on the inside, some people are fancy on the outside." This may be a simple pattern to some, but it reflects when I'm feeling fancy on the inside! Bonus that I get to wear it on the outside.
