Mooney describes himself as an artist who refuses to be "typecast" - often alternating between a drawing, a sculpture, or a song depending on his creative mood. As part of the animation duo Alasdair + Jock (with Alasdair Brotherston) Mooney has co-directed several award winning projects, including the astounding 2019 music video for 'Here Comes the Sun' by The Beatles - which has notched up an impressive 200 million views on YouTube. In between animation jobs, Mooney started a sideline to "Stop himself getting bored" - his culture of celebrity illustrations, often housed on t-shirts, which grew in considerable popularity during the Covid-19 pandemic, and no doubt kept him (almost) sane. Several commissions have followed and what was once a sideline has now turned into more of a main gig.
