The wet sand exposed at low tide at Polzeath beach, reflects the spectacular sunset forming a beautiful symmetry. Many surfers are in the sea enjoying the waves before dark, and spectators watch from the shoreline.

The sun sets over The Mewstone, a small island off the south coast of Devon, near Wembury. The gaps in altocumulus floccus clouds allow the sun's rays to light the sea.

Taken on a late summer's evening in Plymouth Sound, this lone sailing dingy was heading for shore as the sun set over Mount Edgcumbe, Cornwall.

The Mewstone is a small island off the south Devon coast, near the village of Wembury. At certain times of the year, the National Trust bring Dartmoor ponies to the area, to graze on the coastal grassland. This helps with bio-diversity.

Drake’s Island is situated in the natural harbour of Plymouth Sound, in Devon. It is named after Sir Francis Drake, the sixteenth century English sea captain who made Plymouth his home port. This photo of the island was taken from Mount Batten. Mount Edgcumbe can be seen in the background, which is on the Cornwall side of Plymouth Sound.

The Mewstone is a small, uninhabited island of the south coast of Devon. The photo was taken on a hot summers day in July from Wembury Point.

Drake's Island is situated in the natural harbour of Plymouth Sound, in Devon. It is named after Sir Francis Drake, the sixteenth century English sea captain who made Plymouth his home port. This photo of the island was taken from Mount Batten, on a day where the island was surrounded by sea mist. Mount Edgcumbe can be seen in the background, which is on the Cornwall side of Plymouth Sound.

Plymouth hosts the National Fireworks Championships in August every year. This draws huge crowds for two nights of spectacular displays.

At low tide, Polzeath beach in Cornwall has a huge expanse of sand, which here reflects the spectacular sunset. People stand on the shoreline admiring the view, while surfers enjoy the waves.

Built in 1652, Mount Batten Tower is a 30 foot high circular gun tower, at the mouth of the river Plym, in Plymouth UK. It is a scheduled monument owned by Plymouth City Council, and is shortly to become available as a wedding venue.
