I decided to work on the paintings in digital format to give them a little bit of a facelift. This is the "King of Cups." LOL! Lately I've started thinking about the little running man from the 90's internet and so then...I made this design.
Description: If you don't know the story of Boudica, you should. She and her husband ruled their kingdom as an ally of Rome. When he died his kingdom should have gone to his daughters to be a joint ally with Rome. Rome decided to ignore this and take the kingdom completely. When Boudica resisted, she was punished by having to watch her daughters be assaulted. She decided that instead of giving in to their demands, she would resist. Even though she eventually lost, during the rebellion she became a warrior queen so fierce that the Romans feared her for generations and tried to bury her success. Her full quote is listed here on this shirt, "I will win the battle or I will perish, that is what I, a woman, will do!"

Description: This drawing is one that highlights the principals found in the idea of there being darkness and light and beauty in the dark. We live in a world of gray. In order to survive we have to acknowledge that world holds both riches and terrors and sometimes we will have to balance these to move forward.
Description: The narrative that they burned witches during the middle ages needs to stop. Those women were not witches, they were in fact women. Many of them living outside of society norms by simply not wanting to get married or have kids. Some of them were targeted because they owned a business or owned land and it made men mad that they were in positions that granted them any body autonomy or power. So, they were classified as witches and burned. We have the power to change the narrative. Words have meaning. We need to make sure that ours are accurate. They didn't burn witches. They burned women.
Description: I saw some examples of this going around that were worded all wrong and had cartoon characters. So, I decided to create my own character with a play on the skull and crossbones with a woman and shovels. And, if anyone else out there finds themself yelling at true crime shows and podcasts when people make horrible decisions, then this design is for you!
Description: I've been working on this piece for awhile, but today I decided to finish it because it absolutely had Full Moon in Capricorn vibes. We are not a protected class of citizens, and as such the recent developments to roll back the rights of women across the United States has grown increasingly concerning. We are headed right back to more than 100 years ago when we will have to find a way to embrace our inner suffragette. I never thought we'd be here again.

Description: I have been reading over gothic literature while homeschooling my child and the other day I cracked open my Edgar Allen Poe and read through it and immediately thought of a this scene. Description: I decided this year to do Inktober, but instead of doing Ink Work I took the themes and am doing digital designs. Backpack was the prompt and I thought about how my kitties always try to sneak into my luggage when we're packing. So I did this fun design, then in honor of Mean Girls and October 3rd I turned it into this funny piece.
