Description: Osu/Oss. A word heard in many Japanese martial arts dojos/gyms. Its origin is unclear. Its meaning is unclear. But, whenever you hear it, you get that little burst of energy. Here, the left kanji is "Osu," the Japanese word for "push" - one of the proposed origins of "osu/oss" as heard in the martial arts community. The Kanji on the right says "Ju Jutsu" or ("gentle techniques"); the original Kanji from which Judo and BJJ stem from. And of course, the image in the center is the path from a humble, beginning white belt to a confident, experienced black belt.
