Description: This is a flock of beautiful birds that have been painted by Matt Starr. Birds are one of my favorite subjects to paint. Kingbirds are famous for their fearless, aggressive way they chase way much larger birds like hawks and crows that enter their nesting territory, which is how they earned their regal name.
Description: This is my whimsical acrylic and ink painting of a Corporal Red-winged Blackbird cartoon. I painted the red and yellow wing patches of the blackbird in the shape of corporal stripes as on a military uniform. It has a garrison cap, backpack and boots, ready for duty. The green background complements the bird’s striking black feathers.
Description: This is my acrylic painting of a happy brown booby bird on a rocky ledge near the water. Its open break and detailed feathers show realism. I was very inspired to do this painting from seeing a brown booby in Kansas City Missouri that was over 1,000 miles from their normal territory of the Caribbean tropical oceans. Lee, my brother and I found this bird then he took an excellent resource photo for this painting.

I painted this from an inspiration of many family vacations spent around Navarre Beach on the Emerald Coast of the Florida Panhandle. A tranquil beach scene showcases tall, wispy sea oats swaying on sandy dunes under a bright blue sky. The gentle waves of the ocean add a serene backdrop, with clouds dotting the horizon.
Description: This is my watercolor and ink painting of a vibrantly colored jellyfish floating in a clear ocean environment. Its delicate tentacles extend gracefully, surrounded by tiny bubbles. I was inspired to paint this jellyfish after seeing many over the years in Florida. They use venomous tentacles to catch prey. A purple flag at the beach will warn of dangerous marine life such as jellyfish and stingrays. We had a purple flag for a week at Navarre Beach, Florida when I painted this during my visit. This is part of my Florida watercolor collection.
