In Greek mythology, a phoenix is a bird that is reborn through the ashes of the phoenix who came before it. The bird would die in flames after living a centuries long life. Unlike Artemis, however, Diana was also a moon Goddess, connected with Luna in the same vein as her brother, Apollo, and his later connection to the sun. This is a classical rendition of 'Diana the Huntress', originally sculpted by Guillaume Coustou (1716-1777).
