Description: Over the past 100 years, the Izaak Walton League of America has carved out a unique role, promoting community-based conservation and volunteer science while advocating for strong state and national policies to protect our air, water and wildlife. The League’s approach to conservation is also deeply rooted in the outdoor traditions like hunting, fishing, canoeing and camping that our founders enjoyed. In communities nationwide, League chapters have been and remain a gateway to the outdoors where generations of Americans caught a fish, shot a rifle or took their very first steps to protect the environment. Looking to the future, we have ambitious goals to get more Americans involved in conservation, volunteer science and policy advocacy.

Description: Izaak Walton was an English writer. Best known as the author of The Compleat Angler (1653), he also wrote a number of short biographies including one of his friend John Donne. They have been collected under the title of Walton's Lives. Born at Stafford around 1593, Walton moved to London in his teens, where he worked as a linen draper. In the capital, he befriended the poet and clergyman John Donne. A Royalist during the English Civil War, Walton returned to his home county of Staffordshire, settling at Shallowford, following the Royalist defeat at Marston Moor in 1644. Though Walton had returned to London by 1650, his experiences at Shallowford provided material for The Compleat Angler

Description: The Green Crew is a youth-led leadership development and conservation service program, designed to turn passion into action. It began when a group of high schoolers—coming out of COVID—wanted to make a difference in their environment but lacked the tools, support, experience was designed and built to change that! With mentors, advisors, and a tiered leadership model, we support youth from the first spark of an idea all the way through to implementation. Whether you're just showing up for the first time or ready to lead your own team, there's a place for you in the Crew. Now in its fourth year, Green Crew has empowered over 2,500 young people across the Twin Cities and is expanding to new chapters in Mankato, Bemidji, and the East Metro.
