Description: The Diablicos Sucios, originally from Los Santos and Chitre, are an iconic aspect of Panamanian, Corpus Christi festival. They wear red and black stripped suits that originally were painted with charcoal and "achiote" over cotton "manta sucia" and carried an animal bladder that usually stank; when they danced and sweated the colors ran off making a dirty look-hence the name "sucios". The cone that they use to hold the mask is beautifully decorated with red guacamaya feathers. They also use castanets and a stick. There is no narrative sequence in this dance.
Description: The diablos rojos, literally red devils, have been counterbalancing the drab concrete of the city for over four decades with their artwork-plastered bodies and obnoxious outlines of lights. Having served out their first lives as American school buses, the vehicles were bought secondhand and shipped to Panama, their ribbed walls becoming weatherproof canvases. Their mounted speakers drown out honks with salsa, reggaeton, or anything with a vigorous rhythm. Each bus is as distinctive as the tastes of its owner. They've been replaced nowadays for the Metrobus, but it doesn´t stop it from being a classic representation of Panamanian culture.
