Description: The Green Darner is common on all Hawaiian Islands. It came here on its own. It's found in lower parts streams and wetlands. I love it because of its colorful appearance. It is distinguished by its yellow stripe on the leading edge of its forewing.

Description: The pueo (Asio flammeus sandwichensis) is a subspecies of the short-eared owl and is endemic to Hawaii. The pueo is one of the more famous of the various physical forms assumed by ʻaumākua (ancestor spirits) in Hawaiian culture.

Description: The Kōlea or Pacific Golden Plover is a shorebird which spends the winters in the Islands of Hawai’i and breeds in Siberia and the western parts of Alaska. The adults are arriving here in August while the young ones are showing up in October. They’re staying here for more than half a year and are leaving in late April again.

Description: Manu O Kū or White Tern is a native Hawaiian seabird in the tropical and subtropical areas throughout the Pacific.

Description: Noio are an endemic subspecies of the black noddy or black tern. You can find them throughout the Hawaiian Archipelago.

Description: The ‘I’iwi or Scarlet honeycreeper was once among the most common birds in Hawai’i. Today they are found mostly on the Island of Hawai’i, Maui and Kaua’i. The population is decreasing and their conservation status is “Vulnerable”. I find this sad since they are so beautiful and vivid colored.

Description: The Palila is a critically endangered Hawaiian honeycreeper which exists only in the Māmane-Naio forest on Mauna Kea.

Description: The 'Ākiapōlā'au is a species of Hawaiian honeycreeper that is endemic to the island of Hawai'i. They can be found in the high-elevation forests of the island. Unfortunately they are endangered birds because of habitat loss especially the native koa trees.

Description: The ‘Ākohekohe is a crested honeycreeper which is highly endangered because of habitat loss and invasive species like rats or mosquitos. They were found on Moloka’i but they’re extinct there now and on Maui where a small population is still existing in the National Area Reserve on Haleakalā.

Description: The ‘Amakihi is a member of the Hawaiian honeycreeper family and perhaps the most common native songbird in Hawai’i. It is found on the Big Island, Maui and Moloka’i.

Description: The black-crowned night heron or ‘Auku’u in the Hawaiian islands can be found in pretty much all coastal wetlands.

Description: The ‘Akikiki or Kaua’i creeper is a honeycreeper endemic to Hawai’i. It’s a critically endangered species.

Description: The ‘Apapane is a Hawaiian honeycreeper. They find their food in the canopies of the ‘ōhi’a trees. They’re drinking the nectar from the flowers while pollinating them at the same time.

Description: The ‘Alalā or Hawaiian crow lived once all across the Big Island. It was on the brink of extinction and survived only because of the work of Bird Conservation Centers.

Description: There are three species of the ‘Elepaio. This one is the one who lives on O’ahu. They are highly endangered. Only 1200 of them are living in the higher ranges of the island. They are the first native birds to sing in the morning and the last to stop singing at night.

Description: The Red-footed booby, in Hawaiian ’Ā is a seabird found in tropical seas around the world. Unlike other boobies they nest in trees and bushes instead of on the ground.

Description: This rare Hawaiian honeycreeper lives in the native forests above 5000 feet elevation of the Big Island. With its slightly crossed bill it opens ‘ōhia leaf buds in search of insects. It is another endangered endemic bird of Hawai’i

Description: The Cattle Egret is a member of the Heron family. They were introduced to Hawai’i in 1959 as biocontrol agents for rodents and flies.

Description: The White-rumped Shama Thrush is a very common Bird in Hawai'i. Native to Southeast Asia it was introduced to O'ahu in the 1940s.

Description: The beautiful Red-billed Leiothrix or Japanese Hill Robin was introduced from Asia to Hawaii in the 1900s as a cage bird. Now they’re found in wet forests around the islands. They’re not easily to spot but you can hear them very well in the bushes.

Description: 'Uki'uki or Dianella sandwicensis is an endemic Hawaiian plant. It can have a 3 to 5 foot spread and is considered long lived.

Description: Lāʻie Point is a beautiful lookout on the windward coast of Oahu. On the left hand side is an offshore sea arch which is a seabird sanctuary. My print shows the right hand side, looking into the direction of Kaneohe Bay. There is a legend of Lāʻie Point in which this land was called Laniloa and it was once a "Mo'o", a giant Lizard.
