Description: The fear of octopuses is called chapodiphobia. People with chapodiphobia may be afraid of octopuses' slimy skin or the structure of their tentacles. Phobias are intense, irrational fears of specific objects, situations, or animals. Zoophobia is the general fear of animals, while specific phobias are fears of specific types of animals. People with specific phobias often recognize that their fear is irrational.
