by Neil Feigeles © 2021 The original digital art is 44"x30" Here's the first in a new series of designs, continuing the checkerboard theme, variations if you will. Which depending on color looks either like a beautiful tiled floor, a chessboard, or a cozy quilt blanket. This initial design, showcased in Black, White, and Gray began by first creating a line going back and forth in a 5x7 ratio, then I duped it, and flipped it so one line went on top of second line in the opposite direction, revealing a criss cross pattern. I turned one line white and then added a layer of dark gray underneath, creating the little gray squares showcased surrounded in white. I then checker boarded them in a 45º angle, and this beautiful pattern emerged.

For this variation, I changed the black sections to blue and the white sections to red. I turned the background color yo a darker shade of violet, and to finish off this design, I added square sections to the mix, in a lighter shade of blue, and happily this beautiful variant was created. Hopefully you like it as much as I do .

Senator Kamala Harris, the 2020 Vice Presidential Democratic Nominee Art by Neil Feigeles The original art was created December 2019. I began illustrating it on her birthday in Prismacolor color pencils on October 20, the photographed and then finished the art in Photoshop on my Apple iMac computer on Dec 13. The original prismacolor sketch was on 11x14 Strathmore drawing paper, and once brought in digitally, the final digital art is 24x30. I adapted the art for this new image, first, making the image a square design, and two, adding two political pins. Portrait of Senator Kamala Harris, Democratic candidate for President 2020, created December 2019, began illustrating it on her birthday in Prismacolor color pencils on October 20, the photographed and then finished the art in Photoshop on my Apple iMac computer on Dec 13. The original prismacolor sketch was on 11x14 Strathmore drawing paper, and once brought in digitally, the final digital art is 24x30.

Mystique Painted in 1997 18” x 26” Oil paint on canvas Exhibited at Masks, The Cooper Gallery, Jersey City (1997) Our Own Show, The Society of Illustrators, New York (1997) I was asked to submit a new work for The Cooper Gallery's 'Masks' exhibition, even though they were looking for, well, sculptures. In my conversation with the gallery director, Ahn Behrens, I sketched out my idea, she told me to go with it. Senator Bernie Sanders Candidate for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States by Neil Feigeles Art sketched on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Hand drawn from scratch, with Prismacolor pencils on 30 lb. 8 1/2” x 11” white paper Feel the Bern. Thats the slogan under when Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is using to promote his Progressive Change movement. I realized that that actually could be used both for him and against. Think about it. As a fan of politics I find his rise in the national consciousness an amazingly interesting American story. And one which I only can imagine will change the course of history in our country. Either by his winning the Democratic nomination and then the Presidency.

President Barack Obama was painted in oil paint on a 11 x 14 canvas and finished in April 2012, as a tribute to the then Commander in Chief. My ambition was to try to convey his humanity, intelligence and personal charm. If I do say so myself, I'm pretty happy how my interpretation came out. Hope you agree.

Portrait of music legend, Louis Daniel Armstrong, nicknamed "Satchmo", "Satch", and "Pops". One of music's all time greats, and one of my childhood idols. Growing up my parents thought making it was being a musician, and I took private music lessons in Saxophone and Clarinet, along with my two brothers. This portrait was created approximately 1980 while I was attending the School of Visual Arts,, painted in oil paint on stretched canvas. and digitally cleaned up in photoshop.

Michael Jordan Interior full page illustration was published in Bo Jackson vs. Michael Jordan #1 Published in 1992 by Celebrity Comics The original art is 10" x 15" and was painted in oil on illustration board. The great thing Personality Comics for me was getting to see many illustrators getting the chance to paint full color interiors and covers for them. During the early 1990's I spent a several years illustrating over 25 covers for Personality. Mostly actors and musicians, so It was so much fun getting the chance to paint one of my sport heroes for a change.
