Pillows
Description: My friend (I shall call him 'The Big Man') is a ferry enthusiast. I've drawn three key ferries from his life to celebrate the birth of his new baby girl (who'll probably go and watch ferries whether she likes it or not). There was the time he lived in a fishing village north of Aberdeen and he used to watch the Northlink ferries sail past his house. When he got married, he voluntarily dressed up as a sailor and we took the CalMac ferry to the Isle of Arran. More recently, we travelled to Australia (on a plane) and we used the ferries to cross Sydney Harbour.
Description: When I was young, the Easter Bunny always hopped over the 6ft fence and left chocolate eggs in our apple tree for me and my siblings. He sometimes also left smaller treats around the garden and I remember looking amongst the tulips and spring flowers for all sorts of treasure in our garden!
Description: My glasses got broken recently, someone caught me completely by accident and the frame snapped. I've had them for a few years now but it is one of the perils of wearing specs. I often come home from school with my glasses wonkily sat on my face or roughly taped together which meant a quick trip to the opticians to get them fixed. All sales from this design will fund my new glasses!
Description: In the 1980s, my Dad bought me my first proper trainset, featuring a Class 58 in Railfreight livery (that's the greylivery with the large logo and distinct red bar underneath). I still have that trainset, along many other models, including a Class 37 which caught my eye because of the noses at each end. I've drawn it here in Petroleum Sector livery which was used in the 1980s.
Description: During the Second World War, the American military built hundreds of S160 locomotives that were shipped across the world to help with the war effort. This drawing shows an S160 in USA Transportation Corps grey livery, similar to one that can be seen on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway in Yorkshire.
Description: 'Olton Hall' was painted into red livery in the early 2000s and it went on to star in the Harry Potter films as the locomotive that hauled the 'Hogwarts Express'. I remember seeing this locomotive on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway when it was painted in green and before it rose to stardom. The GWR fans weren't so keen on the red livery, but I think it looks quite fetching!
