Dungeons & Dragons was one of the best cartoons of the 1980s - and here is one of the reasons - In all their glory - the much sought after weapons of power, which Venger would literally kill to get his hands on. hank's energy bow, Sheila's cloak of invisibility, Presto's magic hat, Eric's shield, Bobby's club and Diana's staff.

An old English folk legend. Herne The Hunter was a poacher and some time gamekeeper of Windsor Forest who was killed in an unholy fashion. Now his antlered spirit is said to wander the wood, claiming the souls of those he meets. He was incorporated into the Robin Hood mythos by the 1980s TV show Robin Of Sherwood in which his appearance in Sherwood Forest encouraged Robert of Loxley to take on the mantle of the Hooded Man and defend the forest and its residents from injustice and black magic. Herne also appeared as a character in the fondly remembered BBC adaptation of the Christmas fantasy story, The Box of Delights.

Spoiled rich-kid, selfish and seemingly cowardly yet somehow the most human of Dungeon Master’s champions, Eric, with his magic shield, often placed himself between danger and the other kids, protecting them from arrows, rock falls, magic spells and more. By far my favourite of the Dungeons & Dragons characters. The emblem of a Griffin features on Eric's shield.

If there's one thing that The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy has taught me, it's that the Babel Fish is probably the oddest thing in the universe. Well and that the Earth is mostly harmless... And that dolphins are far more intelligent than we thought... Oh, and that the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster is the best drink in existence... And not forgetting that a towel is the most massively useful thing a hitch hiker can carry.
