Description: This piece was both referenced and inspired by my lucky cat or in Japanese, maneki neko, collection. I have around 40 scattered throughout my home. Having a lucky cat at home is suppose to bring good fortune and money. Lucky cats mean different things depending on the colour and if it's the right paw or the left paw raise as well as the colour and items they are holding. I find these cute cats lovely to have in the home. For good feng shui, I am told that you need to place them near where you make money and visible to an open door to invite good fortune. Bunnies are hidden throughout the piece. Inked and drawn traditionally and digitally colored and edited in Photoshop.
Description: A rainbow assortment of nudibranchs also known as sea slugs. The blue dragon, sea sheep and sea bunnies are the most recognizable in this collection. The rest were inspired by real sea slugs but I may have changed the colours to make it work as an illustration. Sea slugs are slow moving ocean creatures. They can be found dwelling in coral and are characterize by their bright colours. Hand drawn and then coloured in Photoshop.
Description: Cockatiels are small parrots from Australia and they make lovely pets. I especially love their round orange cheeks! I was inspired by a friend's pet, a cockatiel named Clyde and felt compelled to draw cockatiels after being regaled many tales about is bird. Also, hidden bunnies!!
Description: In Victoria, Australia, there's a place called Philip Island where you can go to view the little fairy penguins. They call it a Penguin Parade. During the pandemic, I'd watch the live cam since we weren't allowed out of the house to travel. It's a lot of fun seeing these cute little guys come out of the water and walk to to their nests after swimming in the sea to catch fish.
Description: A psychedelic skull surrounded by Monarch butterflies. I actually drew this a while back but decided to try re-colouring it and it came out pretty funky. I was going for cool cyber punk colours. I think I got there! There are also bunnies hidden around!

Description: My illustration for the Year of the Water Rabbit 2023. I drew in the goldfish on the skull for good luck and the water rabbits to symbolize this Chinese New Year. I use a lot of Memento Mori themes in my work. Aside from the fact that I think skulls are cool, I think it's good to be reminded that life is short so we need to make the most out of it and hopefully with good luck and good health on our side.
Description: The Garden of Decay and Life, I thought of this title as the skull was surrounded by a garden of mushrooms and fungi, the living and the dead combined.
