An icosahedron is a Geometric shape which is a polyhedron with 20 triangular faces, 30 edges and 12 vertices. Holes have been added to the shape.

Metafictional awareness of the gap between reality and the crafted image reflecting interest in the self-conscious and interactions between reality and representation, echoing fairy tale allusions. The paradox of representation both entraps and empowers us, and allows us to explore the implications of sexuality – the female struggle for intellectual activity, a struggle that conflicts with cultural expectations of feminine domesticity and subservience and is in tension with the female desire for passion.

This artwork was created in response to the news that our government has lifted the moratorium on shale gas exploration in the Karoo. Yes there will be economic benefits from Fracking but what of the long term affects to the environment, ground water and the air quality? Should we taking such chances with our planet, with our very own lives? There's a fine line we, as the human race, stomp along everyday consuming vast amounts of our planets limited resources and these resources will one day be depleted leaving us the human race dead to our selfish deeds. Yes this is a bleak world of absent laws where many people cannot think further than themselves. We only have one planet to call home and we are destroying it.

The main idea of this artwork is that parts of our strict and rigid lifestyle (The square cubes represent this along with the quantity showing the varied and different parts) may seem suffocating and confusing (the hap-hazard placement of the cubes without order) but that there is still a way out, even if it is only a little more space to move in, grating you freedom and release from the oppressive "boxes" in your life.
