Ancient Chinese invented compass, we call it as "pointing south needle". The "North" side is at the bottom instead of at the top, therefore, left side is East and so on. The spots in the picture have odd and even numbers, they represent Yin and Yang, Yang is odd numbers and Yin is even numbers, 5 and 10 are the constants.The borned numbers are 1, 2, 3 and 4, then add 5, they will generate 6, 7, 8 and 9, the generated numbers.
