Description: I was born in Jefferson City, MO but raised in St. Louis! It has been and always shall be my home. From the culture and arts community to the food scene and of course our beloved sports franchises (GO CARDS!), there is no other city in the United States like the Gateway City. Description: Popularly known as "The Show Me State", Missouri actually has no official state nickname. There are many stories as to where the phrase came from, but the one circulated the most comes from a speech by Congressman Willard Vandiver in 1899, who said, "I come from a state that raises corn and cotton, cockleburs and Democrats, and frothy eloquence neither convinces nor satisfies me. I'm from Missouri, and you have got to show me." This is in keeping with the saying "I'm from Missouri" which means "I'm skeptical of the matter and not easily convinced."
