An original enhanced photo by urbanphotos.net of Mandalay Bay's THEhotel and Luxor Las Vegas. THEhotel is now called Delano but is still a second room tower to Mandalay Bay.
The north end of the Las Vegas strip as seen in December 2014. The Riviera no longer exists. The most prominent structures in the photo are the Sky condos on the left, the Stratosphere in the center, and Fontainebleau on the right.
Bugsy's Bar in the Flamingo Las Vegas as seen in December 2014. The first time I went here, I asked for a pint of beer and the bartender didn't know what a pint was. The second time I had a beer here, I asked for a pint of Blue Moon Belgian White. I knew I'd get the beer for free if I played the bartop video poker but I thought it would be less expensive to just pay for it. The guy gave me like 47 cents change out of a $10. Pfffft. Prices on the Las Vegas strip are outrageous.
Frequent upscale visitors to Las Vegas refer to these two towers as "Wynncore." Like Mandalay Bay which has Delano as a second room tower, and Venetian which has Palazzo as a second room tower; Wynn has Encore as a second room tower but markets it as a separate property. Cromwell Las Vegas as seen in December 2014. This structure was formerly the Barbary Coast and Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon. Once a low budget area, the entire megablock between Flamingo Rd. and the Linq (formerly Imperial Palace) has been remodeled into an upscale series of Harrah's properties.
Treasure Island Las Vegas as seen from the 50th floor of Wynn, December 2014. Treasure Island was originally planned by Steve Wynn as a second room tower for the Mirage. At some point they decided to convert it into its own resort. Wynn sold Mirage, Bellagio and Treasure Island to MGM Mirage, most likely to raise money for his Wynn resort tower, which cost over $2 billion to construct. While building CityCenter, MGM Mirage sold Treasure Island to Phil Ruffin for $775 million; probably to fund the completion of CityCenter.
The Las Vegas Strip as seen from the Stratosphere observation deck in March 2006. This view looks completely different now (Stardust was imploded March 2007; Sky Condos were built north of Circus Circus; Frontier closed July 2007 and was demolished a few months later; Wynn built a new tower called Encore at Wynn directly north of the Wynn tower you see in this picture; and Venetian built a new tower called Palazzo to the north of their original structure.) Glass Pool Inn was demolished in 2006 and the sign went missing in 2012. It was supposed to go to the Neon Museum & Boneyard with all the other old signs.
The Las Vegas Local 777 Gamblers Union logo, created by urbanphotos.net
This is a fictitious organization, there is no actual "gamblers union" that I know of.
