Lyttelton Harbour

Down in the pretty town of Christchurch (Dorset, UK), you walk along a promenade with ducks and swans on the river Avon on one side and the greenery of a park with a traditional bandstand on the other. At the end of the walk there is a little ferry that takes you across the river and a walk of a couple of miles out to Hengistbury Head (where I've painted the beach huts). And it is just along from the little wooden jetty where the ferry leaves you, that this dredger is parked - next to a bank of reeds. I was particularly taken by the shed mounted on it, and felt the urge to produce this picture. This is a church I came across while traveling in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The change of colors is brilliant, where walkers enjoy walking and biking. Hagley Park has been at the heart of Christchurch since the 1850s when it was set aside for recreation and enjoyment of the people of OtautahiChristchurch.

Strangely and appropriately this graffiti was on a car park. In fact the graffiti was 100% correct as the car park is in the Christchurch earthquake red zone and there should be zero cars now inside it. It may have been put on by an anti car protester or just an indication that the car park is empty. One of the suggestions for the City plan for the rebuilt Christchurch was for a pedestrian and cycle only area, which also fits in with 0 CARS.

After the earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand they demolished a lot of buildings completely, but this one was only partially demolished and this is the buildings basement. Strangely there are plastic ducks floating around on the water (out of sight) that someone threw in as a joke.

Historic Oamaru is home to Steampunk enthusiasts of New Zealand, with an annual festival celebrating them.
