Trojan, Didcot, August 2021 "Trojan" is an 0-4-0 ST (Saddle Tank) locomotive, built in 1897 by the Avonside Engine Company of Bristol. She was originally operated by Messrs Dunn & Shute of Newport Town Dock and later by the Alexandra Docks Railway, also in Newport (South Wales). In 1923, the Alexandra Docks Railway was absorbed into the Great Western Railway and Trojan was allocated the number 1340. Withdrawn from service by the GWR in 1932, that certainly wasn't the end of the line for Trojan. She moved to the Netherseal colliery in Burton-on-Trent and then onto Alders of Tamworth in 1947, before arriving at Didcot in 1968.
