Description: “Jake and Rosie are blind. They were used in a wedding release, where the couple insisted on having the pigeons dyed to match the color of their wedding, green. The dye apparently killed most of the pigeons used that wedding day. Three survived; all are blind. I have two, Jake and Rosie, a mated pair. They are very much in love and depend upon each other. Jake and Rose are my ambassadors for my speaking engagements about the history of pigeons. Both have also been my inspiration. She has two fused legs making her unable to walk but she is still flighted! She has now been with me for 2 years and has fostered multiple special needs pigeons with me, traveled to multiple states and gone to college with me. She is one of the sassiest pigeons I know and will tell off anyone who comes in her space. She loves lounging in the sun and eating as many sunflower hearts as possible. When I returned to work, I adopted Cher and Bruce so she would have company while I was out of the house, but she remains my "ride or die". I struggle with chronic illness and she is always by my side at my worst moments. When she is not sitting on the nest she loves to cuddle with me, keep me company, taste all the foods I'm eating, and hop around the apartment foraging for seeds or whatever else she finds. We picked him up and took home with us. Since then, we’ve always been together. We are sleeping in the same room, waking up to his morning routines. He loves traveling by car and enjoys looking around in the supermarket cart while we’re grocery shopping. Always with Hamziş of course. Mavi is extremely jealous of her and never leaves her out of sight. His favorite treat is peanuts.
