Stockyards City - Cowtown Co - Mural Since I didn't have a lot of time in OKC, I was unable to visit the store...that and rain was starting to fall. What I noticed was the front of the building had several names; Docs Boots and Cowtown Boots are the two I remember. This was on the parking lot side. Sacred Datura Bud Unfurling by Debra Martz Beautiful but poisonous and may be fatal if ingested by humans, livestock, or pets. It was growing wild throughout Zion National Park. Datura wrighti is sacred to some Native Americans and has a history of having been used in ceremonies and rites of passage by Chumash, Tongva, and others....however, not all survived the rites of passage.

Orchid Tree Bloom by Debra Martz Throughout the tropical zone of Estero Llano Grande State Park, there are a number of very large Orchid Trees. There you will find the purple variety, like this one, and the white variety. The park is located in south Texas in the town of Weslaco.

Inside Looking Out The interior of The Chapel of the Transfiguration was sited and built to frame the Cathedral Peaks in the window just behind the altar. Stepping inside this chapel and seeing this altar with the beautiful scene behind it instantly soothed my soul. The Chapel of the Transfiguration was built in 1925 and is located just inside the southern part of The Grand Tetons National Park. At the time it was built, the National Park had not yet been established. It is still, though seasonally, an active Episcopal Church with services on Sundays and many wedding vows are exchanged here as well. Swirls of Brightly Colored Seashells by Debra Martz Seashells that have been painted in bright colors swirl around strands of small, natural seashells. Captured against an overcast sky really made the colors pop!

Axis Deer - Spotted Deer - Chital by Debra Martz I hate to admit that I shot this beautiful deer....with my zoom lens extended to 600mm on my camera and from the comfort of my camp chair. While their is a deer hunting season which includes the Axis, I only shoot with my camera. The Axis Deer was introduced to Texas in 1932. They are native to India where they are called Chital or Cheetal. They are also referred to as spotted deer. I captured this image and others of these beauties, on a summer day in South Llano River State Park near Junction, Texas. On one morning, a herd of aproximately 40 moved through this wooded area at our campsite. That was a wow moment!! Also, see my website www.debramartz.com

Cactus in the Tree - Flood 2010 - Bentsen Rio State Park by Debra Martz I shot this image back in January 2017 while hiking the trails at Bentson-Rio State Park in southern Texas, thinking it was kind of odd seeing cactus high up in the tree. On a return trip to the park in March 2017, I took a tram ride and the driver stopped and pointed out that very cactus. She explained how the landscape was completely changed by the flood of 2010 and the cactus not only showed how high the waters were but that was the only cactus left in the park in the aftermath. So once back home, I started searching through my images. That tree with the cactus now had a story to tell. July, 2010, hurricane Alex slammed northern Mexico and unleashed heavy ...

Couch's Kingbird - Dragonfly for Lunch by Debra Martz We heard this kingbird calling as it flew through the treetops around noon at Estero LLano Grande State Park. Finally it landed up high, looked around for awhile, then swooped down and caught this dragonfly. This huge dragonfly!! It worked on it for a while, tossing and tapping on the limb in an effort to try and remove the wings. But in the end, ate the dragonfly, wings and all!!

Pink Miniature Roses by Debra Martz These beauties are container grown by my Mom...she has a green thumb for sure. She amazes me with her beautiful potted plants every year. I thought these were in a wonderful natural arrangement with the buds mixed between the full blooming roses. Gardeners limited in space can enjoy all the fun of rose growing by cultivating miniature roses in containers. They also adapt well to flowerbed edging, front-of-the-border socializing with perennials and annuals, and low hedges. Rosas

Vermillion Flycatcher and Reflection Framed by Debra Martz Looking across the Dowitcher Pond where the water level was very low, I spotted this tiny Vermillion and its reflection. The area seemed barren until the bright red bird gave a pop of color. I've added a soft texture overlay for a softer finish and framing to complete.

Spider and Its Web - Early Morning Light by Debra Martz Out in nature. early in the morning, I always seem to see/find plenty of spider webs. Often the spider is not there. That was not the case when I spotted this one just as the sun was rising. The early morning light was like a spot light on the spider. The sunlight hitting the dew on the silk of the web was creating small rainbows of color.

Formations and Reflections - Lake Powell by Debra Martz We took the fabulous boat tour to the Rainbow Bridge which is one hundred miles round-trip. It was a gorgeous day in late August with beautiful blue skies and water. We left from the Wahweap marina in Arizona, soon passed through a manmade channel into Utah, where most of the boat ride took place. There area many buttes, formations along the way.
