A view from the Firth of Forth of the three bridges linking Fife on the north bank and Lothian on the south. In the foreground is the new Queensferry Crossing taking the M90 over the estuary. This bridge, opened in August 2017 is the longest 3 pier cable-stayed bridge in the world - 1.7 miles long! Behind it is the Road Bridge opened in September 1964 and in the background the unmistakable cantilever structure of the Forth Rail Bridge which was opened in 1890 - now a World Heritage Site!

It is a cruise ship destination as it is a gateway to the highlands including nearby Loch Ness. Captured from the bow end as the ship is about to tie up at the dockside under the setting sun.

Approaching the port of Invergordon as the sun is setting over the surrounding hills. Invergordon, gateway to the Highlands, lies in the Cromarty Firth on the north east coast of Scotland. It is a deep water port and as such is ideal for the maintenance and servicing of oil rigs which line the approach as they wait. This is a digitally produced coloured graphic sketch.

Continuing up Frederick Street, we come to the Statue of William Pitt the younger, at the junction of George Street and Frederick Street. From my original photograph, a view of the East Cote Lighthouse or light tower at Silloth on the north Cumbrian coast in the style of an oil painting. The tower stands on the cliff top looking over the Solway Firth to the Galloway hills in Scotland. It was established in 1841 to aid the ships sailing between Annan and Port Carlisle. In the 1850s it was apparently placed on a short track in order for it to be moved as necessary. It now shines a green light over the Silloth approach channels.

Oil rigs awaiting maintenance and servicing line the approach to Invergordon which lies in the Cromarty Firth on the north east coast of Scotland. This is a deep water port and as such is ideal for the maintenance and servicing of oil rigs. Ships entering the port pass by these sentinels which can loom out of the mist. This image has added textures and toning to convey the impression of mystery and awe as these monsters appear out of the evening gloom.

Sailing boats in Anstruther Harbour surrounded in Haar, The stillness of the afternoon combined with Haar made this scene very peaceful. Anstruther is a small coastal resort town in Fife, Scotland, situated on the north shore of the Firth of Forth near St Monans.

The harbour entrance at Maryport on the north Cumbrian coast. The town overlooks the Solway Firth with the hills of Dumfries and Galloway in the far distance. Maryport was once a thriving port centred round the coal and ship building industries. Having declined in importance since Victorian times, it is now developing as a holiday and cultural centre and the harbour is home to fishing boats and yachts. This image was captured in early morning in late June and has been made into digital art.

The oldest of the three bridges which cross the Firth of Forth in the west of Scotland. This iconic steel cantilever structure - a symbol of Scotland's engineering heritage - connects Fife on the north bank and West Lothian in the south - just west of Edinburgh. It was voted Scotland's greatest man-made structure in 2016 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Construction started in 1882 and the bridge was opened by the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VII, in 1890.
