I painted this scene to be used on a Christmas card for the residence of Wapping back in the 80's when I was known as The Wapping Artist. now you can have it in print or even use it yourself as a Christmas card, something unique and not on the mass market.

Designed by architect G.E.Street and completed in 1874, St John's is unusual because of its north-south orientation (most churches are east-west). The church tower was added in 1923 and houses eight bells, cast at a cost of £301. Date: 2nd December 2010.

DescriptionA summers day, looking at St Johns Church Wapping London from the graveyard, Captain Bligh, of the famous mutiny on the Bounty lived in Wapping and was married in this church, most of his children were christened here to. Wapping is steeped in history and I have captured this in my paintings in and around Wapping. This was painted on a 20 by 30 inch canvas in oils. Wapping was originally a Saxon settlement, believed to be that of Waeppa's people, and although it is not known exactly where the original site of the village was, it is known that this area was marshland until the 16th century when it was drained. St John's Moordown Number of views as of 13th March 2018 = 500. St John's Church, Moordown, Bournemouth, Dorset. The building of the church began in 1873 and it was completed ready for consecration on April 14th 1874. The architect was G.E.Street, who was well known for his Church designs in Victorian times. The last structural addition was the tower, added in 1923. It houses eight fixed bells, cast at a cost of £301. Unusually, the orientation of the church is north-south, rather than east-west, with the tower at the southern end. Date: 10th April 2008. Click here to see another of Bournemouth's churches

Interior detail. St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta, Malta. It dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. It was built by the Order of St. John between 1572 and 1577, having been commissioned by Grand Master Jean de la Cassière as the Conventual Church of Saint John. In the 17th century, its interior was redecorated in the Baroque style by Mattia Preti and other artists. The interior of the church is considered to be one of the finest examples of high Baroque architecture in Europe.
