St. Dominic Square is a small square located across the street from Rossio Square (seen in my earlier photos in this series). One of the main features of St. Dominic Square is the Wall of Tolerance (seen in this image). This place went down in history as the starting point of a grandiose Jewish pogrom (an organized massacre of the Jews in Europe) known as "The Lisbon massacre". The prehistory of this tragedy began with the persecution of Jews in Spain in the late 15th century, when in 1492 Queen Isabella (a Catholic and a fanatical Christian), issued a decree according to which the Jews had to undergo the rite of baptism or leave the Kingdom.
