This Photograph was taken in Edinburgh, Scotland in November 2013. I used a 10 Megapixel Samsung Digital Camera. A Traditional Red, Wall-mounted, British Royal Mail Post Box set into a Stone Wall. The Collection times are on the front and the Manufacturer is, I think, WS ALLEN and CO, London.

RMS Lusitania was a British ocean liner that was sunk on 7 May 1915 by a German U-boat 11 miles (18 km) off the southern coast of Ireland, killing 1,198 passengers and crew. The sinking occurred about two years before the United States declaration of war on Germany. Although the Lusitania sinking was a major factor in building support for a war, war was eventually declared only after the Imperial German Government resumed the use of unrestricted submarine warfare against American shipping in an attempt to break the transatlantic supply chain from the USA to Britain, and after the Zimmermann Telegram.

The Post Box was manufactured by WS Allen and Co London, or possibly WA Allen and Co London, I used a Samsung Digital Camera....

A pattern arranged with graphic illustrations of a George VI style Post Box in Pillar-Box-Red. The iconic design is a much-loved piece of UK street-furniture, a pre-internet receptacle for the collection of letters to be delivered by the Royal Mail postal service. The British author, Charles Dickens, reminded his readers never to put a letter you intended to post in your pocket on your way out, as you may find it still there on your return.
