You'd have thought that birds crapping everywhere - particularly on their own doorstep - were messy creatures, wouldn't you...? Well, actually, not so, it is us humans that are messy creatures and are actually shitting on our own doorsteps - by not putting plastic directly in the bin...!!! In one simple act, by keeping our doorsteps, pavements and streets tidy - we quite simply STOP that plastic from being washed by the rains - down the drains and out to sea... So you see, it is us that are *messy creatures*, not birds, not guillemots, not seagulls... Pick up the crap that we make.

Guillemot colony on the Farne Islands - Northumberland, UK. The Farne Islands lie between two and three miles off the Northumberland Coast between Seahouses and Bamburgh. As well as being the most famous Sea Bird Sanctuary in the British Isles they also have a large colony of Atlantic or Grey Seals.

Quite naturally one would expect to see lots of puffins, on Puffin Island... but that's not the case, we saw many more other forms of auks than just puffins, predominantly razorbills - and pockets of guillemots... Naturally !!!
