This image is of the Egytptian-built lighthouse that guards the entrance to the old Venetian-built harbour in Rethymno in Crete. Although it is no longer in use, it dominates the harbour as it stands so proud as it overlooks the small boats. The harbour, in modern times, has been extended significantly so the purpose of the lighthouse, as a lighthouse, no longer holds, but it retains its impressiveness.
