Romulus and Remus are twin brothers who, according to Roman mythology, are directly linked to the foundation of Rome, with Romulus specifically being the founder of the city. According to legend, sons of King Mars and Rhea, the brothers were thrown into a river to drown. According to the myth, the brothers were later taken in by the wolf Luperca and, when they grew up, founded Rome, although Remus did not live to see the rise of the city, as he was murdered by his brother shortly after the establishment of the city.

Mark Ryden is an American artist known for his surreal and meticulously detailed paintings that often incorporate elements of pop culture, mythology, and religious symbolism. Born on January 20, 1963, in Medford, Oregon, Ryden developed a passion for art at a young age and went on to study illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

Rome's history spans 28 centuries. While Roman mythology dates the founding of Rome at around 753 BC, the site has been inhabited for much longer, making it one of the oldest continuously occupied sites in Europe. The city's early population originated from a mix of Latins, Etruscans, and Sabines. Eventually, the city successively became the capital of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, and is regarded by some as the first ever metropolis.
