Imagawa clan (今川) was a Japanese noble military clan that claimed descent from the Seiwa Genji by way of the Kawachi Genji. They were defeated at the Battle of Okehazama in 1560 by Oda Nobunaga and succumbed to the Takeda in 1569. The family lived on to provide Masters of Ceremony to the Tokugawa bakufu in the Edo period. This is the kamon (family crest) of the Imagawa clan, Yoshimoto’s version of the akaitori (phoenix). Below the crest is “Imagawa” in kanji.
