Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, R.D. Trucking was Martin "Rubber Duck" Penwald's owner/operator trucking business. This is a variation on the original artwork as seen on Rubber Duck's black Mack RS-712LST in the legendary 1978 film, Convoy. This version of the R.D. Trucking Custom shirt features a nice vintage look with subtle fading, cracking and chips to make it look like it's been waded up in the back of a sleeper cab since the 70s.

If you’re a trucker, you know that Citizens Band Radio Service (CB radio) is a vital tool when you’re on the road. The CB radio allows anyone to communicate with one another through a radio system. CB radios also help truckers stay informed about events on the road, get traffic and weather updates, and make contact in an emergency situation in rural areas. All practical uses aside, it's also quite handy for just shooting the shit with those around you when traveling or overnighting somewhere.

C.W. McCall's song 'Convoy' reached the number one position on the pop and country music charts in January 1976. The song was about truckers using CB radios to rebel against the new 55 mph federal speed limits, a theme so popular and topical, that the single sold over two million copies upon release. Midland decided to market a CB radio called the 'Convoy Buddy' to McCall fans, and while its 4 watts won’t get you from New Jersey to Omaha, Nebraska, like it did in the song, the radio was a nice unit. In 1978, the movie Convoy was released, based on McCall's song, that featured a new version of the track, written specially to track with the events of the film. The movie injected renewed in interest in the song and the Convoy Buddy radio sets.

Unlike the 1970s CB craze which fueled movies like Smokey and the Bandit, and countless CB-themed songs – which in turn saw the CB phenomenon positively explode – today’s CB culture breeds a more mature mode of communicating. In fact, CB communications are alive and well and most likely living in your neighborhood as people are increasingly looking to CB communications. I’m not sure that state troopers will be returning to Citizen’s Band radio any time soon, but just in case, trust no one.

Smokey and the Bandit is a 1977 American road action comedy film starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed, Pat McCormick, Paul Williams and Mike Henry. The film was the directorial debut of stuntman Hal Needham.

C.B. McHaul 1977

C.B. McHaul was a line of 3" action figures and vehicles introduced in 1977, the name being a play on country musician C.W. McCall. Featuring a line of good guy and bad guy truckers, along with their respective 18-wheelers, the line played into America's fascination with C.B. radios and truck driving in the '70s. The trucks featured a built-in C.B. style microphone that allowed kids to speak into it and come out of the speaker in the cab. Sadly, the C.B. craze was a rather short-lived national phenomenon, and by the time the line hit the market, the fad was already on its way out. As a result, production ended early, making these really rare pieces for toy collectors to seek out.
