Enter the Dragon (龍爭虎鬥) is a 1973 martial arts film directed by Robert Clouse and written by Michael Allin. The film stars Bruce Lee, John Saxon and Jim Kelly. It was Lee's final film appearance before his death on July, 20 1973 at the age of 32. An American and Hong Kong co-production, it premiered in Los Angeles on August 19, 1973, one month after Lee's death and earned more than 400 times its budget, making it one of the most profitable films of all time. Bruce Lee plays a martial-arts expert determined to help capture a narcotics dealer whose gang was responsible for the death of his sister. Lee enters a kung fu competition in an attempt to fight his way to the dealer's headquarters with the help of some friends.

After 16 years Jackie Chan returned to the role of Wong Fei Hung, the character he played in his 1978 break-through martial arts blockbuster. Anita Mui plays his stepmother, Ti Lung his stern father, while Lau Kar Leung plays a supporting role and handled directing duties until Jackie took over direction and finished the film himself.

After Jackie's first attempt to break into the US film market, 1980's light weight The Big Brawl, failed to make much impact on audiences, a second production was greenlit, where Jackie played a tougher, modern "hero" roll, more in line with Clint Eastwood's "Dirty Harry" character. Partnered with Danny Aiello (after David Soul and Rick Springfield backed out), THE PROTECTOR (1985) saw Chan as a New York cop who travels to Hong Kong to, honestly, kick some butt and do some stunts. Jackie was so unhappy with the direction of this film that he shot additional action scenes for the HK market and then immediately made his own epic police drama, POLICE STORY released later that same year.

In 1983, Jackie Chan teamed up with his two childhood Chinese Drama School "brothers" for what is considered the first of his true action comedy epics. Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao costar with Winnie Wong and professional villian Dick Wei in this non-stop action adventure, recalling the physical comedy of Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd.

In 1978, after teaming up with Seasonal Films and director Yuen Woo Ping for the surprise hit, SNAKE IN THE EAGLE'S SHADOW, Jackie Chan worked again with the same creative team to produce the even bigger hit DRUNKEN MASTER. This "old school" classic, co-starring Yuen Siu-tien, Dean Shek, and amazing kicker Hwang Jang-lee showcases Jackie at his physical peak and has become a true classic of the kung fu genre.

Sammo Hung directs, Yuen Biao does his acrobatic martial arts flips and kicks against Keith Vitali, while Jackie has a fist-to-fist battle with Benny "The Jet" Urquidez that is still considered one of the very best movie fights ever filmed. The lovely, Miss Spain 1979, Lolaa Forner co-stars.

Based on a freeze frame from the movie, Kung Fu Killer, I made this acrylic painting of the character, Feng. The action is mid-air. If you like Hong Kong cinema, I hope you like this painted figure.

POLICE STORY IV: FIRST STRIKE offers a more globe-trotting, James Bond-inspired action adventure with added comedic tones. This design is a custom variation of the original Japanese poster for Jackie Chan's 1985 American film THE PROTECTOR. Chan was unhappy with director James Glickenhaus' final product, so he shot new footage with HK stars Sally Yeh and Moon Lee to appeal to his home market. He also deleted certain scenes and added new faster-paced action scenes that better suited his style.
